Tonaquint Opens New Data Center in Oklahoma City

Premier data center solutions provider renovates and reopens former EdgeX data center.

Members of Tonaquint Data Centers and DIF Capital Partners cut the ribbon at the new Oklahoma City data center.

OKLAHOMA CITY – May 3, 2024 – Tonaquint, the premier data center solutions provider serving emerging markets, officially opened its newly renovated data center in Oklahoma City. The company celebrated this milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, data center tours and a celebration featuring local favorite foods and plenty of networking.

Kanan Joshi, Partner, Co-Head of North America and Head of Digital Infrastructure for DIF Capital Partners, and Mike DeVito, Chief Commercial Officer for Tonaquint, made short speeches. Gary Schones of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce also said a few words.

“Our mission is to provide the absolute best data center solutions in emerging markets like Oklahoma City and we’re proud to officially open this state-of-the-art facility,” said Mike DeVito, Chief Commercial Officer at Tonaquint. “In addition to providing the digital infrastructure that will enable commerce to thrive, we are also thrilled to be a part of this vibrant community.”

The new facility is designed to meet the demands of AI workloads, providing critical infrastructure in Oklahoma, and enabling efforts to establish Oklahoma as a top state for AI and emerging technologies

“Having lived and worked in this community for many years, I’m proud to be a part of this kind of technological advancement for Oklahoma City,” said Terry Morrison, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer for Tonaquint. “This state-of-the-art data facility is one of this region’s most future-forward and resilient data centers.”

Tonaquint acquired the data center located on Newcastle Road, near the Will Rogers World Airport, in late 2023 when the company purchased EdgeX Data Centers and appointed Morrison to Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer. The facility, originally owned by Devon Energy, was renovated to transition from a single-client environment to a multi-client one, deploying a minimum of 2.5 MW of critical IT load with expansion capabilities up to 12 MW.

Situated on a highly secure, four-acre campus, the 65,000-square-foot facility is positioned for 100% uptime and can withstand tornado-force winds of up to 310 mph. Tonaquint is actively accepting clients for this newly opened facility, as well as its other data centers in Idaho and Utah.
